Privacy Policy
1. Who is responsible
Dentalingo is an independent iOS app published by:

Impressum
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) that makes him the controller for anything described here. As set out below, the app itself processes no personal data at all; the only processing connected to Dentalingo happens when your browser loads this website (section 8).
2. Information the app collects
None. Specifically, Dentalingo does not collect:
- names, email addresses, phone numbers or any contact information;
- account credentials — the app has no sign-up, sign-in or user account at all;
- device identifiers, advertising identifiers (IDFA) or fingerprinting signals;
- location data;
- usage analytics, crash telemetry, session recordings or heatmaps;
- contacts, photos, camera, microphone or health data — the app never requests access to any of these.
Dentalingo integrates no third-party analytics, attribution, advertising or social-media SDKs. It makes no network requests of its own.
3. Information the app stores on your device
To work as a study app, Dentalingo saves your learning state in a private database inside the app's own storage container on your iPhone:
- which lessons and atlas modules you have completed;
- your answers, correct/incorrect history and spaced-repetition review schedule;
- XP, streak, daily goal and quest progress;
- mock exam attempts and scores;
- app settings such as sound and notification preferences;
- which components you have unlocked.
This data stays on your device. It is not uploaded to us or to anyone else — we operate no server that could receive it, and we never see it.
4. Your own iCloud or computer backups
If you have enabled iOS device backup, the app's on-device data may be included in your encrypted backup to iCloud or your computer, the same as for any other app. That backup belongs to you and is handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy; we have no access to it. You can exclude Dentalingo from backups in iOS Settings.
5. Purchases and subscriptions
Dentalingo sells an auto-renewing subscription (Dentalingo Study Camp) through the App Store. All payment processing, billing and renewal is handled entirely by Apple. We never receive or have access to your payment card details, billing address or Apple Account information — not at purchase, not at renewal, not at cancellation. The app asks Apple's StoreKit framework on-device whether an entitlement is currently active and, if so, when it expires; that answer stays on the device and is the only thing the app does with your purchase.
Apple provides developers with aggregated, anonymised sales and download reports. These reports do not identify individual customers. Apple's handling of your purchase is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
6. Notifications
Dentalingo can send optional study reminders. These are local notifications scheduled on your device by iOS — there is no push server and no device token is registered or transmitted. The app asks for notification permission only after you have finished your first lesson, never at launch, and it works fully without it. You can turn reminders off at any time in iOS Settings or in the app's Profile tab.
7. Links to other sites
The app's credits screen and this website link to outside pages — image sources on Wikimedia Commons, open-source project repositories, licence deeds and reference documents. Once you follow such a link you are on a site we do not control and this policy no longer applies.
8. This website
Sections 2 to 7 describe the app. This section describes the website you are reading, because they are not the same thing.
These pages are plain HTML. They set no cookies, run no JavaScript, contain no analytics, no advertising, no social buttons, no embedded videos and no tracking pixels. All styling, images and fonts are served from this site itself — your browser makes no request to any third party while loading a page here.
The site is hosted on GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc.). To deliver a page to you at all, GitHub's servers necessarily receive your IP address and standard request information, and GitHub may log it to operate and secure the service. This is a technical necessity of visiting any website; we do not receive these logs, cannot query them, and get no visitor statistics of any kind. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing a secure, functioning website (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). GitHub's handling is described in its General Privacy Statement, and the data collection specific to Pages is documented here. Because GitHub is based in the United States, that transfer relies on GitHub's own safeguards as described in that statement.
9. Children
Dentalingo is a professional certification study tool intended for adults preparing for dental assisting exams. It is not directed to children, and it is not designed for or marketed to children under 13. Because the app collects no data whatsoever, it collects no data from children either.
10. Your rights, and how to delete your data
Because the developer is based in Germany, the GDPR applies. It gives you the right to access your data (Art. 15), to have it corrected (Art. 16) or erased (Art. 17), to restrict or object to its processing (Art. 18 and 21), and to receive it in a portable form (Art. 20). Equivalent rights exist under laws such as the CCPA.
We hold no personal data about you — no account, no identifier, no contact record, no analytics profile — so there is nothing for us to look up, hand over, correct, erase or port, and nothing to sell or share. We do not sell or share personal information under any definition. If you write to us to exercise a right, we will tell you exactly that, and we will not ask you for identifying information in order to answer.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data-protection supervisory authority. The competent one for us is the Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit, and you may also complain to the authority where you live or work.
To erase the data on your device, delete the app from your iPhone. iOS removes the app's storage container and all learning progress with it. This is permanent and cannot be undone by us. Your past purchases remain tied to your Apple Account and can be restored with "Restore Purchases" if you reinstall.
11. Security
Because nothing is transmitted, there is no transmission to intercept and no server of ours to breach. On-device data is protected by iOS app sandboxing and by your device passcode and encryption.
12. Changes to this policy
If the app ever gains a feature that changes what data is handled, this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the "Last updated" date at the top will change. Material changes will also be noted in the App Store release notes.
