GynDiary Privacy Policy
Effective Date: March 14, 2026
Summary: GynDiary does not collect, transmit, or share any of your data. All health information stays on your device. No accounts, no cloud, no analytics, no tracking.
1. What Data Is Stored
GynDiary stores the following information locally on your device only:
- Symptom entries: Category, subcategory, severity (0-10), notes, timestamp, cycle day, medications taken, and triggers
- Pain details: Onset type, body location, pain character, radiation, duration, exacerbating and relieving factors
- Medications: Name, dosage, and frequency of medications you add
- App preferences: Onboarding status, reminder settings, biometric lock preference, and patient name (for PDF reports)
This data is stored using Apple's SwiftData framework and UserDefaults, both of which keep data exclusively on your device.
2. How Data Is Collected
All data is entered manually by you. GynDiary does not automatically collect any data from your device, sensors, or other apps. There is no background data collection.
3. How Data Is Used
Your data is used solely to:
- Display your symptom history and entries within the app
- Generate visual charts and pattern analysis (processed entirely on-device)
- Create PDF reports for you to share with your healthcare provider
- Export CSV files for your personal records
4. Data Sharing
We do not share your data with anyone.
- No data is sent to our servers (we have no servers)
- No third-party analytics services (no Firebase, no Google Analytics, no Mixpanel)
- No advertising SDKs or ad networks
- No third-party APIs are called
- The app makes zero network requests
If you choose to export a PDF report or CSV file, you control who receives it through iOS's standard share sheet.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
- Your data remains on your device for as long as you keep the app installed
- You can delete individual symptom entries at any time from within the app
- Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all stored data
- Backup files (.gyndiary) that you export are under your control
6. Data Security
- Optional biometric authentication (Face ID / Touch ID) protects access to the app
- Data is stored in the app's sandboxed container, inaccessible to other apps
- No data is transmitted over the internet, eliminating network-based risks
7. Your Rights
Because all data is stored locally on your device:
- Access: You can view all your data within the app at any time
- Export: You can export your data as CSV or PDF
- Deletion: You can delete entries individually or uninstall the app to remove all data
- Portability: You can export and import backup files (.gyndiary format)
Since we never receive your data, there is nothing for us to delete from our side.
8. Children's Privacy
GynDiary is not directed at children under 13. The app is rated 12+ for Medical/Treatment Information content. We do not knowingly collect data from children, and in fact, we do not collect data from any user.
9. Permissions
GynDiary requests only one optional permission:
- Face ID / Touch ID: Used solely to lock the app and protect your health data. Biometric data is handled entirely by iOS and is never accessed by the app.
The app does not request access to location, camera, microphone, contacts, photos, or any other device capability.
10. Changes to This Policy
If we update this privacy policy, we will post the revised version at this URL with an updated effective date. Since GynDiary collects no data and has no user accounts, we cannot send direct notifications of changes.
